League of Legends K/DA Gift Card Design Process
Intro
As part of a Design Process course I took at University, we were tasked to select an object to re-design for our final project. The objective was to document the entire design process from start to finish in order.
Given my passion for the game League of Legends, I decided to base my project off of it. I specifically chose to redesign the gift cards due to the discrepancy I noticed: while the game itself undergoes constant evolution, its gift card designs have remained relatively unchanged for the past decade. With the emergence of K/DA, I took it as an opportunity to give the cards a refresh.
Timeline
Phase 1 – Research & Identification
Conduct research into gift card designs that League of Legends and other gaming franchises have done then identify existing challenges with areas to improve.
Phase 2 – Prototyping
Experiment with various styles by creating 30 iterations, each with different design layouts and/or elements
Phase 3 – Feedback Implementation
Collect feedback from peers and make adjustments.
Phase 4 – Finalize
Refine designs, add iterations for additional characters, and render.
